Our names are Jordyn and Mikey and we are the crafting crabs of Crab-Hands Crafts! I suppose our name could use some explaining… ha! Well the thing is that we are both of the Cancer Astrological Sun Signs, the symbol for which being the wonderful crustacean, the crab, or even sometimes seen as a Lobster. BUUUUT… I think Crab-Hands sounds much better than Lobster-Hands, don’t you? We are a little unconventional, trying to be a little weird and original in everything we do! I (Mikey) am a bit of a hippie in my sensibilities and my lovely wife Jordyn is amazingly supportive of my eccentricities. For example: I LOVE to dress nice, but… HATE to wear shoes! Ha Ha!

So this journey of ours is just beginning. We are totally new to the whole Blogging business so please do forgive our short-comings, because we are Startin’ from the Bottom things can only get better right?! We decided to get into the Handmade business after years of working the 9 to 5 beat, not feeling that we had progressed any further in our lives. I also had a brush with that big bad “C” word my Sign so graciously gave its name to, Cancer. No worries, Though! I kicked its butt and am back at it feeling more alive than I have ever been. Ever since my diagnosis and subsequent treatment I have wanted to find a way to give something extra to the Cancer Community, and here I have the perfect opportunity! So if you find yourself interested in any of our Handmade Wares please do make your purchase with the knowledge you will be helping to donate to the great cause to find a cure. You will find the amount to be donated in the descriptions of our various products, which we will provide a link to in another post as our online store is still being created at the moment. I would also love to give you the opportunity to choose which charity we will donate to, more on that later.
A little more about us, we are a married couple from Salt Lake City. Currently we are living in Vernal, UT. A small community by comparison to what we are used to, but we love being in a small town, nestled against the mountains, so near the lakes that we could walk if we wanted. Nature is one of the greatest loves in our lives, so much so we try to bring it home with us! We have tons of plants in our home and we try to grow new kinds every chance we get. This year we were lucky enough to get out of our apartment and into a home with our own yard to plant a garden. Our greatest pride was our tiny, little pie pumpkins, which we almost don’t have the heart to turn into an actual pie!
We also care for what can almost be called a small Zoo! We have two species of snakes, a Ball Python and a Columbian Red-Tail Boa; two Leopard Geckos who were both being left behind at our local pet-store due to their tails being lost, we love them anyway; two dogs, Anberlynn and Munky, We’ll introduce you guys soon; two little kittens Jeffree and Keipha, the newest additions to our family; and finally our Rat, Little Timothy, who is not so little at all anymore! We would love to get more, but decided to take a break until we get a bigger place, Ha Ha!

So far our Handmade selection consists of Glass Etching (Custom works available as well!), Candle Making, and due to the season we are also making Christmas Wreathes! We have so many great plans to expand on as well, one of my favorites for the near future is a line of soothing and beautiful water fountains! So please come back every Friday (or more often if you like! I will be writing more posts than just Friday’s.) and we will have an item to feature for you, as well as some fun crafty ideas for you to do at home, recipes to add some delicious to your day, and the occasional life-hack tips to make every day easier! We Cancerians hold a deep respect and take great joy in our homes, we look forward to sharing that with you and can’t wait to see what you can bring to the table, too.
